Hey guys, today I am going to take you to the most important industry that the world run behind "Pharmaceutical Industries". Everyone may wonder, this is Chemical Engineering blog, but why am i talking about Pharma industries. As a Chemical Engineer, we have opportunity to work in Pharmaceutical industries. Today, this is the top industry which is developing in a rigorous manner, and world economy relay on these industries. This is the industry which gives us medicine. Without this industry, we can't even imagine of getting cure to various diseases. Many Researchers, Scientists, Engineers play vital role in developing this industry. As a Chemical Engineer, we also play an important role in this industry. We play our role as Production Engineer, Research Associate, Process Engineers, Quality assurance Engineer, in these industries. We should be proud to say that we work in these industries to contribute to the world. After your completion of Degree, you have many job openings in Pharma industries, but most of them don't opt for these options, because of low salary. Yes, we can't achieve great heights in this field in a easy manner. We need knowledge and Experience to get into top companies with good salary package. Always don't run behind money after your studies. You have many kinds of job, which gives you high package in the start of your career, but always try to settle in a job of your field of studies. We all need to work for developing our knowledge and skills. Money will come behind you, if you have good knowledge and skills in your career. Never look for shortcut method to reach your goals. We contribute to Pharmaceutical Industries, by Optimizing the Method of Production of API. API- Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, this the main component of every form of medicine that we consume. These components are vital in curing our disease. Without API production, Formulation department can't develop the medicines. Pharmaceutical Industries are divided into two groups, One is API industry, and other one is Formulation industry. API Industries produce and develops main ingredients to cure various kinds of disease. With the help of the API, the Formulation industry produce medicines in various forms such as Tablets, Capsules, Injections, Powders, etc by blending the certain quantity of API with different kinds of chemicals to form a good medicine with quality. Both the industries combine together known as Pharmaceutical Industries. We have opportunity to work in API Industry, as Production Engineer, Process Engineer and Quality Assurance Engineer. Every industries have certain criteria and expects certain knowledge from us. In India, we have top Pharmaceutical Industries, which will mostly ask for M-Tech Chemical Engineering degree to work as Research Associate or Quality Assurance Engineer. B-Tech Chemical Engineering Qualification is always considered as entry point in Production Department. If you have dream to work in Pharmaceutical Industry as a Research associate, I would suggest you to pursue your M-Tech degree in Pharmaceutical specialization, so that it would be a gateway for you to enter the Top most industries in India. You also have an option to pursue your higher studies in abroad with these specializations. Foreign Countries have many specialization programs for Pharmaceutical industries. Before that, i would like to explain about various job roles in this industry for our Chemical Engineers.

1. Research Associate/Scientist: In this role, mostly Chemistry students produce and develop the process flow of the API production in small scale to see if the results come positive. Chemical Engineers with a deep chemistry knowledge also work as Research associate. They develop the process with many trial and error methods with different combinations of chemicals. If the results of discovering the API gets succeed, then they will start preparing the Reports and Documentation for Scale-up process of Producing API in large Quantities.
2. Production Engineer: The Engineers will play vital role in producing the API in large quantities. Basically, the API will be developed and produced by the Research associates and Scientist in the small scale laboratory and if the results of the main drugs are positive and quality has been tested with good results, they will provide the process flow and documentation for the production of API in large quantities to the Production Department. After this process, we come in to the picture of optimizing the parameters like Temperature, pressure, density, volume, etc for the process to take place in a systematic manner without any defects. 
3. Quality Assurance Engineer: They are the one who maintains the documentation of each and every step of the process in a prospective way. They involve in analyzing the validation reports, product development reports, Risk assessment documents, etc in order to assure the quality of the API products. They take care of the Compliance and Audits of the organization according to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) rules and regulations. Mostly the working of Pharmaceutical Industries will be based on GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices). 
4.  Safety Engineers: Mostly the Chemical Engineers work in assuring the safety of the employees who are working in these industries. To become a Safety Engineer, we need to complete some important courses like, Industrial Safety, IOSH, NEBOSH, Process Safety Management, Environment Health and Safety management, HAZOP, etc. This will be very useful for us to grow in any kind of Chemical Industries. In Pharmaceutical Industry, they assure the safety of Employees by giving Personal Protective Equipment to prevent them from hazards. They are responsible for ensuring safety of the industries.
